This is an exceptional trip for seeing  many scarce bird species, including those endemic to the Tumbesian region of southern Ecuador. We will cover a good many of the Jocotoco Foundation reserves, including Buenaventura,Tapichalaca (for the Jocotoco Antpitta), and Jorupe. Even our overnight lodgings will usually be right within these reserves. We’ll also visit Copalinga Lodge and Podocarpus National Park near Loja. Southern Ecuador is an amazingly diverse area ecologically, covering everything from Amazonian rainforest and Andean cloud forest to high-altitude Paramo and Tumbesian desert. You can imagine the huge trip-list this makes possible in such a bird-rich country as Ecuador! You could come home with 50 to 60 endemic or near endemic additions to your life-list, out of the 550 or more species expected. This is truly s special birding destination.
