Rich is one of the fine Rockjumper leaders. He was too young to remember when his passion for the outdoors began, but certainly remembers his first pair of binoculars when he was only a few years old! It was this that began his obsession with Southern African birds and wildlife, ultimately leading to a passion for conservation and a degree in Wildlife and Environmental Science. Rich’s horizons were subsequently broadened when the opportunity arose for him to guide in Peru and Ecuador. Since then, he has moved from one continent to the next for almost a decade, birding extensively and capturing each area’s birds through his camera lens. Not one to miss any nature viewing opportunity, Rich also spends a great deal of time photographing underwater wildlife, amphibians, mammals and reptiles, and his image sales continue to fund further worldwide exploration. Patient and enthusiastic, Rich enjoys showing others the natural world as much as he does discovering its wonders for himself.
