The High Lonesome Birdtours Gambell II Trip was (as always!) a wonderful experience for leaders and participants both. The heavy snow cover from the previous week had largely melted which allowed us quick and unimpeded access to all sites in the area. The weather continued to be challenging, not for the expected cold and winds but more due to the direction of the winds, which continued from the north and east rather from the desired west and southwest. We found some outstanding rarities while on the island, and our total of 72 species was at the high end of past total species counts for this tour.
